Supper Club IV

Yo ho ho,

This week, for Supper Club IV, we're going to take a strand of Supper Club's hair, make some genetic modifications, strap it onto a nuke and shoot it towards the sun. The resultant uber-Supper Club will not only be more powerful and hence able to defeat the original Supper Club, it will also be evil, and under my personal control. It's new features will include:

Teleportation to: Fritto Misto
601 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, CA

The ability to stop time at: 6:30PM on Wednesday, Dec 19th

See you kids there!

Supper Club III: Punting and Dropping Balls

I totally sucked about Supper Club in the month of November. One week we had to postpone because it was Thanksgiving, the next week I was sick + helping my sister close her restaurant-bar in LA. In the words of Brook, "One week you punted, the next week you dropped the ball."
So, because I'm in low spirits regarding our little venture, I've decided that we need a can't-miss location that will dazzle & impress everyone. Our silver-bullet destination is Tuk Tuk, a Thai place in the Pico Robertson area. Details:

Tuk Tuk
8875 W. Pico Blvd
Los Angeles, CA
Wednesday, Dec 5th, 8:00 PM

Call or email by the end of tomorrow.

Supper Club Postponed! Happy Thanksgiving!

Due to the holiday, Supper Club has been postponed for a week. The next one will be next week, Wednesday, November 28th. I'll send out details this weekend. If you have any suggestions for venue, I'm all ears.

Happy Turkey Day, and stay safe!

Paco's Tacos: The battle of Tortilla Flats, AKA 'Flour > Corn'

I'm not crazy about Mexican food. I like it OK, and i do eat tacos on a disgusting frequency, but for sit-down, shut-up, scarf-scarf-scarf type of dining, it's not my preferred cuisine.

However, at Paco's that all goes out the window Except for the middling tamales, everything was super-scrumptious. Of course, the tortillas were so mouth wateringly delicious that --- (I'm craving those tortillas right now. Let me get a napkin and wipe for a second) --- I could eat a stack of them for dinner. Oh yes, the corn tortillas, scrumptious as they are, are not as good as the homemade goodness that is the flour tortilla.

Thanks for all you guys for coming out. Until next time, Angelinos!

P.S. I'm open for suggestions for the next one. Someone suggested Korean. Hmm!!!

Supper Club Los Angeles II

The second Supper Club will take place at Paco's Tacos. This is not to be confused with Tito's Tacos, where not only can you feel shitty for falling prey to terrible basic-cable commercials, you can also stuff yourself with tacos that taste like they were made by a house-husband in Topeka, Kansas.

No, we're talking about Paco's Tacos. Their tortillas will melt your heart. The corn tortillas will the cure the cancer that's been growing inside you. The flower tortillas will make you wonder why you can't stop eating these damn things. Basically, they're very tasty. The rest of the food is pretty good too! Excellent portions, great margaritas.

Kudos to the brain of Bernstein for cookin up the idea. See you Wednesday!

Deets:
Time: 8pm, Wednesday Nov 7th
Address: 4141 S Centinela Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90066

Please RSVP via email to me by Monday night.

Angeli Caffe Pizzeria - Gnocchi makes you a better person

As Jason Bernstein, a suprise Supper Club interloper, said, Angeli's gnocchi does indeed make you a better person. After having had it last night, this morning i find that I can think more clearly, am more charitable, and am wearing my $1,000 dollar smile. Where else can you buy happiness for $13.50?

The restaurant was its usual delicious self, and the table food-sharing was heart warming. I can still taste the smoke mozzarella, the yummy bread, and feel Brook's furious attempt at footsie. Thank you Brook, we'll always have 10/24.

The evening was an auspicious beginning. Thanks to everyone for coming out, and I'll see you in 13 days!
